The Dourogás – Leroy Merlin partnership, which began in September, marks the start of a three-month pilot project to carry out detailed tests on using biomethane in the heavy goods vehicle fleet.
Biomethane, a renewable, eco-sustainable and profitable energy source, will be the protagonist of this pilot project. The aim is to help decarbonise the economy, industry and, above all, the freight transport sector.
During the three-month period of this programme, each Leroy Merlin transport vehicle fuelled with biomethane will cover a monthly average of around 5,000 kilometres. This initiative is expected to reduce emissions by more than 10 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) compared to fossil fuel alternatives.
As well as offering outstanding environmental performance, biomethane is a financially advantageous solution that aligns prominently with the sustainable strategy of Dourogás and Leroy Merlin.
“Given the current context, the energy transition in the mobility sector is imperative, especially in the heavy sector. Biomethane represents an opportunity to decarbonise the economy, industry and the mobility sector. We reiterate our commitment to this solution, establishing partnerships with more companies and expanding the range of solutions for cleaner professional mobility.”
