Dourogás, in partnership with Bosch Portugal and Transportes J. Amaral (TJA), has launched an innovative pilot project to promote the use of 100% renewable biomethane in transport fleets. Biomethane, produced from organic waste, will be tested in TJA vehicles with the aim of significantly reducing CO2 emissions.
The project marks an important step in decarbonizing the transport sector in Portugal. Besides being a sustainable alternative to natural gas, biomethane helps reduce dependence on fossil fuels. With the expectation of avoiding the emission of 139 tons of CO2 per year, the initiative not only contributes to environmental sustainability but also demonstrates the commitment of the involved companies to innovation and ecological responsibility.
Dourogás, already a pioneer in gas mobility, sees this partnership as an opportunity to expand the use of renewable energies and strengthen its role in the energy transition. Bosch Portugal, in turn, brings its technological expertise to optimize the efficiency and performance of vehicles powered by biomethane. TJA, the direct beneficiary of the project, expects to enhance the sustainability of its fleet and reduce long-term operational costs.
This pilot project is a significant milestone on the path to a greener future, highlighting the importance of collaboration between companies to achieve ambitious environmental goals and promote sustainability in the transport sector.
