Dourogás Renovável took part in the 6th CoLAB BIOREF Workshop, dedicated to the theme “Energy Transition: Renewable Gases and Bioenergy”, which brought together representatives from industry, research institutions, and energy sector organisations in Aveiro to discuss the future of renewable gases and bioenergy.
During the “Industry & Innovation” session, Nuno Afonso Moreira, CEO of the Dourogás Group, shared the company’s experience in developing renewable gas projects, highlighting the key challenges that continue to impact the sector’s growth in Portugal.
The presentation focused on three fundamental areas: the availability of waste and feedstocks for renewable gas production, the engineering and licensing processes associated with these projects, and the various energy applications of biomethane and other renewable gases.
Throughout the session, it was emphasised that the main challenge facing the development of these projects lies not in the technology or the availability of resources, but in the need to accelerate licensing procedures and create market mechanisms that provide greater predictability and confidence for investors.
Nuno Afonso Moreira and Carla Matias Machado represented Dourogás Renovável at the event, reinforcing the company’s commitment to developing sustainable energy solutions and promoting waste valorisation as a strategic resource for the decarbonisation of the economy.
